You can join the Federation as a supporter or as a participant in a sporting event sanctioned by a National Sport Organization (NSO). If you participate through a NSO, please contact the NSO for its membership application form and information.
Each NSO is responsible for maintaining its own internal membership list on an annual basis. Per Federation’s bylaws, the life span of an individual membership is one year. Members that receive membership renewal notices directly from the Federation are limited to supporters and internal board and committee members only.
USADSF and all the experiences the organization has afforded hundreds of athletes have been the result of volunteerism.
Beginning with Art Kruger, who single handedly formed the U.S. Team and kept a close hand–some would say a warm embrace–through four decades, USADSF has been volunteer-driven from top to bottom. In fact, annual estimates show volunteer hours to exceed $1 million when taken as in-kind contributions. Without these contributions, USADSF simply would not be the organization it is today.
The USA Deaf Sports Federation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. For more information on how you can contribute, please contact us at HomeOffice@usdeafsports.org.
What you put into your experiences often offer instant rewards. Many who volunteer do so for their family, friends, or community, and found it so enriching that they continue. If you have time on your hands, take it off by interacting with local people on committees, providing hospitality at tournaments, anything to make community-building experiences possible. After all, you are an integral part of deaf sports. The possibilities for volunteerism are as great as the power of imagination:
- Team support: From coaching to providing medical services to managing a team’s budget, travel, or paperwork.
- Event coordination: From helping with admissions to selling refreshments to managing the whole event.
- Committee service: Lending expertise on a standing or an ad hoc committee.
- Development: Assisting with creating fundraising campaigns, using personal or professional ties to identify foundations and corporations that could offer in-kind support.
