Deaflympian Hockey Players now RIT Tigers

On Sunday, November 5, 2017, the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) held a matinee between RIT and Niagara University. The Tigers came up on top on account of the "Deaf Connection" as three different deaf players scored all three goals. Tyler DeVore (Boonton Township, New Jersey) opened up the scoring, Sam Holzrichter (Sioux City, Iowa) added another tally, and Derek Struwing (Bartlett, Illinois) scored the game-winning goal. All three were members of the 2015 Bronze-medal Deaflympic team and the 2017 Gold-medal World Championship squad. RIT faces Navy next weekend. This year's edition of the Tigers is unique because it features the most Deaflympic players on their roster at one time, with five members from the 2015 Deaflympic team and 2017 World Championship team. They are: TJ Oricchio (Plattsburgh, NY) Tyler DeVore (Boonton Township, NJ) Danny Kurchena (Rutland, VT) Sam Holzrichter (Sioux City, IA) Derek Struwing (Bartlett, IL) USADSF wishes to recognize those players and sends our hearty congratulations to RIT's Tigers!
