Deaf Elite Volleyball Camp Celebrates 20th Year!

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—USA Deaf Sports Federation is proud to congratulate USA Deaf Volleyball ad hoc committee on a successful 20th annual Deaf Elite Volleyball Camp! This year’s edition of the camp took place from June 15 to 19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Since the first camp was held in Indianapolis in 1999, the Deaf Elite Volleyball Camp has been an important development pipeline for Deaflympians and National Team members. Over two decades, the camp has served over 330 athletes, including at least eighteen Deaflympians. The camp, which is the second longest-running camp held by a USADSF-affiliated National Sports Organization, puts players through drills, game situations, video analysis and live matches over an intense four days.

Reflecting on the success of the camp, Brian Bippus, one of the camp’s founders and two-time Deaflympian (1993, 1997), remarked, “Lynn Ray [Boren] and I have run the camp together from day one. We hope to see camp run for many more years and someday we hope to pass on the reins to somebody younger with similar aspirations and vision as ours.”
